About the Speaker

Dr. Oleksiy Gogotsi is an expert in MXenes and advanced nanomaterials, working at the intersection of materials production, process engineering, and application-driven development. As Co-Founder of NanoCarbonTech (Poland) and Director of Carbon-Ukraine / Y-Carbon LLC, he develops scalable approaches for producing and integrating MXenes and related nanomaterials into functional coatings, films, inks, fibers, and composites.

His work supports the transition of MXenes from laboratory materials to practical platforms for smart textiles, flexible and wearable electronics, structural health monitoring, advanced sensors, biomedical interfaces, and emerging space-related technologies. Through international academic and industrial collaborations, he focuses on connecting reproducible material availability with real-world engineering needs in high-tech and extreme-environment applications.

His technologies and materials are used by more than 300 research groups and industrial partners worldwide, positioning his team at the forefront of the rapidly growing MXene ecosystem.

About the seminar:

This seminar will introduce MXenes as a rapidly developing family of two-dimensional materials for space-related and high-technology applications. The talk will cover MAX phases and MXene material forms, scalable processing, smart textiles, conductive yarns, wearable and flexible sensors, structural health monitoring, Joule-heating elements, multifunctional composites, MXene–biopolymer systems, and biocompatible polymer composites.

Special attention will be given to MXene-based coatings, inks, and films for electromagnetic shielding, printed antennas, printed electronics, environmental sensing, and biomedical applications. The seminar will highlight how MXenes can contribute to lightweight multifunctional materials, smart structures, astronaut health monitoring, adaptive surfaces, and integrated sensing and communication platforms.
